Shifter bushing install
Here's a how-to I wrote up a while ago explaining how to install the metal shifter bushings.

WARNING:
Do not modify your car without the help of a trained, professional automotive mechanic unless you comfortable doing so yourself. Any modifications taken from this site are done at your own risk!
Part I : Shifter housing bushings
1. Remove the two screws inside the arm rest compartment.
2. At the front of this piece, there are two snaps that connect it to the shifter console. Lift straight up to unsnap them. Make sure you disconnect the IC mister switch.
3. Remove the shifter console. First, remove the two screws at the base of the shifter console. Then plastic screw down by the gas pedal. Remove that small panel and you will find another snap screw thing, remove that one too. On the passenger side, remove the panel and undo the snap screw. Unscrew the shift knob, and pull the entire piece.
4. Remove the 4 bolts holding the shifter housing to the car. If you remove the one cable, you will be able to remove the bolt more easily.
5. Remove the stock rubber bushings. I found if you use a needle nose pliers, it's much easier. Replace these bushings with the aftermarket ones. The notched side will fit into the plastic.
6. Screw the bolts back in and reinstall the plastic pieces.
Part II : Shifter cable bushings
1. Remove the battery by unscrewing the hold down bracket. Be careful not to drop the bracket.
2. There are clips holding the ends of the shifter cables onto the shifter bracket. Remove these, and again, be careful not to drop these like I did.
3. Here's the pita part. You need to push out the stock bushings. This part sucks and it took me forever to do. Have fun! Replace with the aftermarket bushings and reinstall the clips.
4. Reinstall the battery and you're done.
