When I bought my evo IX from a very small used car place, it didn't come with a key fob (lock/unlock). I had the dealer purchase one for me as part of the deal.

I took it to a dealer to have it programmed (before I knew how easy it was) and after an hour and a half of waiting, they had no luck with it. I then took the evo VIII manual and followed the instructions. When you complete the instructions, the doors will lock/unlock and then it's supposed to be good to go. Well everything goes as planned except the fact that the key fob still doesn't work.

The Mitsubishi dealership claimed there is some sort of problem due to a previously installed (and removed) aftermarket alarm. I think they're full of **** and trying to get more money out of me. Having mitsu simply program it is $46 and if they run into any problems, it is $92.

Any ideas on what would cause this issue? Not having a working key fob isn't that big of a deal, but I'd like to get it figured out without getting raped by a dealer.
