Key FOB Losing Memory
Key FOB Losing Memory
So I started searching since this is the second time that I am now going through this.
The other day when I get to work I try locking my doors as I'm walking in. Well I hit the lock buttom on the key fob and nothing happens. The light on the key blinks but nothing happens on the car.
This happened to me once before and I had to take it back to the dealership to get them to reprogram my key.
Has this happened to anyone else, especially more than once?
I don't have the FASTkey, I have the key that actually looks like a normal key with the lock/unlock button on it.
Don't really feel like spending $60 every 3 months to keep getting my key fob reprogrammed.
Could it be a short somewhere that it kills the connection to my car? Note that I do not have a spare key to program it myself.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

ok dont get offended but do you ever keep your keys near a magnet or something that is slightly magnetic?
other thing it could be is that you could be needing a new battery in the key. How long have you been using this key for?

Not offended at all.....the dealership said that to me as well. They said that even if you keep your key by your phone it could do that. I kind of thought that was BS since I don't trust very much of anything that comes out of a dealerships mouth. But I stopped putting my key in the same pocket as my cell phone.
And the battery in the key is brand new. I replaced it the first time it lost the memory thinking it was the battery.
I still have the stock battery in my car though. I read some things that those batteries are pretty much junk from Mitsu. Could that be doing something with it that it is basically resetting the car since the battery isn't any good?
Just a thought, please someone tell me if that is a possibility or not.

Nope I don't know what the screw up with the key is. Now since I don't daily it when I go to hit the buttons nothing works. If I click the button a million times (almost like I'm charging the key up) it will eventually work. But then after I let it sit for another day or so it will do the same thing over again.
Got sick of paying $75 for the stealership to reprogram the key so I just deal with it.
