How to remove the !@#%$# intake manifold bracket

I need some advice on how to remove this pita…
It is what the manual calls the “inlet manifold stay”. I have tried socket wrench, air ratchet, wrench, etc. There is no room to really get the right angle and a long enough tool to get this out. I just want to get the two top bolts that hold the bracket to the manifold. I am trying to pull the head.
I need to drink a beer to calm down…

Pull the head off with the intake mani on it. That is what i did and that is really the only way u will get the intake mani off.

You can get to it however it is a major PITA. The top bolts I believe I got to from under the car. I think I got to them with a socket a swivel and different size extensions. It sucks but itll come off eventually. Good luck

This is my aim to take the head with the intake manifold on. You cannot pull the head if you do not either remove the bolts on the bracket that I am talking about or take the manifold off itself which is bad because there are bolts underneath the manifold which are equally difficult to manage (not impossible...). Then you need a new gasket, etc.

Good idea. I thought of going from the bottom but did not think I had extensions long enough. I guess I will be going to the store unless I use every extension I have. Both 1/2 and 3/8.

lol... its a pain. You need a long extension or a couple, a good ratchet or breaker bar and a swivel. I got to the bolts on the bottom from underneath. Once that is done, its still a pain to get the intake mani off.... but id take the bracket off permanently after this.

what hoses ? Most of that is egr. Just get a block off plate and call it a day. You dont need hardly any of them.

Get masking tape and label the hoses. Take pics before you dissasemble. Bag and tag fasteners. If I get around to it I will post some stuff on head removal.

I am going this route. I already have the periphery bits off for this anyway.

The brackets were a pain to remove...once off don't put them back.

Keep all that egr stuff off. This helps reduce boost leaks.

Yeah that's where I'm running into problems are the egr hoses. Also the hoses I can't figure out which hose plugs here (shown in picture circled in green):

is that the hose that goes over to the line that runs back to your fuel tank? If so, i have that line capped off by the return line connection, and that line is no longer there on my intake mani.

I think so, I connected it to a hose by the brake/clutch fluid reservoir and it fit perfectly. It's near the steering column and brake boost line.
