Help installing sub and amp
Help installing sub and amp
Hey everyone. I'm looking for some advice on how to run my power wire from the battery to the trunk. I'm not that experienced and would perfer not to have to drillthrough the firewall. Does anyone know where i can run the wire the get to the trunk easily? Thanks.
There is already a hole in the firewall, but in racking my brain, I can't remember the exact location. It's near the master cylinder, I believe. You'll need a rubber grommet. Remove the plastic paneling under the hood latch, and the kick panels all the way back. Run from the battery through the firewall, down the driver's side, underneath the carpet slightly and into the trunk. Make sure you have an appropriate ground location in the trunk. Pull back the carpeting in the desired location, and sand the paint away. Make your ground connection and replace the carpet, feeding the ground to where the amp will be. Keep your ground as short as possible. <1 foot is preferable. Have you done an amp install before? -stuie
Depending on where you are planning on mounting your amp, the Door sills are just clipped in and can pop right out. If you are planning on mounting the amp in the trunk: the rear seats are easy to pull out. Feel under the seat and you'll find rings on both the Driver and passenger side. Pull those and the bottom of the seat can be pulled out. The back of the seat is bolted at the bottom, I believe with 10mm bolts. Once you unbolt it, slide the backing up and it will "unhang" itself.
If nothing else, the added freed space helps a lot.

IDK for sure...but just a tip on running wire. Try mounting the amp under your seat. If it fits, it'll help because then you only have to run speaker wires to your sub(ie the bulk doesn't have to be ran far). Also, it'll make it easily accessable. Just incase you need to re-tune it or if something happens, troubleshoot it.
