Battery Relocation Question

Hey, you guys think 4 gauge wire is large enough to run as the power wire to the trunk? Or will not enough juice go through it? I live in wisconsin and it can get pretty cold in the winter. Anyone use 4 gauge before?

The juice will go through it, it's just a question of whether the gauge is enough to keep it from burning up your car. Search for it on here, it's been done, I just don't know the gauge.

Just to clear up some space under the hood. And I ran out of cheap things to do to my car.

go to your local stereo install place and ask one of the mechanics and he will give you the best answer

A good Quality 4g will be fine, the wire from your alternator is barely 4g so there is no need to go any bigger. But like I said, good quality wire, multi strand wire and none of those crappy Walmart Amp Kits. My work sells Rockford Fosgate power wire or Monster would be my choices.

i run 4 guage wire when i relocated my battery it works great i still would recomend a nice zero guage it is more expensive but it will give the best current flow but on a budget build 4 guage would be big enough like i said i ran 4 guage n i live in montana so it gets COLD in the winter here and HOT in the summer n i have never had a problem with it n its benn almost two years since i moved it

I'm not sure if you've done it already, but I've been running 4gauge wire on my little cheapo parts store battery, in the trunk, for about a year now.

If you all do this mod make sure you all put a main fuse on the positive terminal right after it is plugged to the battery , the reason people have burned there cars in the past is because they do not add the fuse and positive wire pinches something so it grounds out .

I relocated my battery to my trunk into a Moroso battery box over a year ago. The Moroso battery cable kit came with 2ga wire. I have a distribution block mounted under the hood and a 120a fuse mounted in the trunk, inline, about 18" from the positive terminal.

When it comes to your car's electrical system, do it right or face a world of hurt if something goes wrong.
