So I tried removing the window trim on the lower part of the window, the horizontal piece right above the door handles, and I cant get it off let alone see how it attaches, I searched and saw how the 2008+ Lancer/Evos trim removes, and I tried that but i didnt want to force it since I realize my 2003 Evo's trim might not attach and remove in the same manner.

does anyone ahave any experience with this?

Not really sure if I'm thinking of the same thing you're thinking of but I recently bought my power window door panels, the little black piece that touches the window itself, the one with the felt-like material on it was attached in a way that you could slide it off but not pull it off. You might have to take off the door panels to do this, not really sure. Hope that helps man.

the side that the piece is supposed to slide out and pop off of, you have to get the inner tab above the slot in the door frame then once its above that you can pull.

sadly a plastic piece popped off the end of mine and got me right in the eye.
