Faded Wing fix with 3M Di Noc CF film

My wing has been off the car for over a year now and I just got sick of looking at it wingless and worrying about the clear/cancer/repainting scenario. 3M Di Noc has been out for over a year and I just found out about it so I ordered a sheet for $30.00 from www.carbonfibergear.com.

  • make a template of the top of your wing w/cardboard or whatever
  • make sure it goes under the front part by about 1-2"(max) so wind wont peel it away and it will look glossy from behind
  • I cut it so it DOES NOT go past rear part to preserve factory look from behind

I've had it on for a week now and there is no peeling issues or bubbles. It is super forgiving and easy to deal with.

Took 1.5 hour to make template, cut film + install.

Thanks,

Totally shiny from behind since the wing curves so much the 'wrap under' out front is not visible from behind. It looks unaltered from behind. if you walk up to the car it just looks and feels like dry carbon.

I used a soft 'badge holder' clear rubber deal I had laying around to move air bubbles out as I installed...(you can see it next to the scissors). A credit card would work also.

Stuff has like a 3yr warranty outside in the sun....worst case scenario you can save your template and recut a piece every couple years? Easier than paint and looks perfect

I figured if somebody wrapped their entire F40 with it I'd give it a try

Have you considered doing the 2 inside CF panels with the 4 bolts? I think it might bring it all together if you did a CF wrap on everything CF rather than just the top. Looks pretty cool though, you can't tell it's vinyl from a distance.

Also did you have to use a heat gun/blow dryer when you were working with it or was it easy to handle?

WOW 30 dollars for a little piece of DI-NOC. You got ripped.

I can get it at 5.50 a square foot. We use for hoods and trunks and everything else you want to wrap.

Gives parts that clean dry carbon look.

Clearly he has more than a couple sq ft of the wrap. Looks good to me, congrats, I have been considering picking up a sheet myself. Is it removable?

You can take it off with a lot or goo gone and a heat gun/blow dryer.
