Painting Valve Cover Help

Hey guys so i wanted to paint my valve cover this weekend and relocate my throttle cable at the same time but i have a few question.
- what is the best paint to use? i want a white cover
- what pattern are you supposed to torque the bolts down with
- what should they be torqued to?
- can you re use the gaskets?

Ill post more questions as i think of them thanks!

-Something hi-temp if you want white. Also use a clear coat. White paint + heat = yellow
-don't think it matters, just cross it around like wheels
-I never torque my valve cover to spec, just by hand
-Yes, if they are in good condition

You ca use a simple duplicolor paint from your local hardware store. Its usually a 500F paint and it will be fine. I had a prelude and painting it with that and it lasted for 3 years without a problem and then i sold the car. Duplicolor also makes a clear 500F. The chips you see is me dropping my ratchet on it. That's why you need to clear it. Coat it once wait 15 min. Do a light coat. Then do a second coat wait for 15 min and then do a heavy 3rd coat and give it 48hrs. It takes paint 30 days to cure fully. If you dont clear you will learn like i did. And dont drop anything lol

Personal experience rust-oleum is better than dupli-color. Just use high temp. I know dupli-color makes a high temp clear but i'm not a fan of their clears. I never did my evo valve cover but I did my Integra valve cover with high temp white and it stayed a nice bright white for a few years and was still that way when I sold it to pay for my evo.

I had a buddy of mine in NJ sand blast and powder coat my valve cover white for my 03 evo 8. It looks great, everything wipes right off. Depending on where you are located this kid might be able to help you out. I paid $70 for mine, If interested i'll talk to him for you.

Bright picture, but looks great IMO.

you get it done yet polishpounder? Don't forget to use gray rtv when u put the cover back on. You can re use the gaskets as long as they are in good shape.

^Cam install but it has good details about valve cover removal and re-install...

Definitely get a new valve cover gasket set. It seems like once you get the idea in your head to remove the valve cover, the gasket starts leaking. Follow the torque specs too as to not over tighten the bolts. They are something crazy low like 10 inch pounds or something like that.

Don't forget to cover the head with somthin like a clean trash bag since you don't want any crap falling inside there while the cover is off.
