Help: JDM Rear
Hey guys so i just recieved my JDM rear from Mitsubishiparts.net i got the Rear Crash beam and the licenseplate bracket all with it to. so upon recieving i noticed that some of the hardware to install it are Rivets.... is anyone able to show me what i have to rivet? and where thanks guys
Read the JDM Rear how-to on here - it even has pictures. I followed it and it covers every step. Go to Lowe's and get a rivet gun but take some of the rivets with you so you can get a few more of the same size. I used it to rivet together the license plate bracket, etc. Super easy anyone can do it. I went into it thinking it was going to be all difficult and as you take it apart and put it back together yourself it will all make sense.
i have a rivet gun i just wasnt sure how to install it haha thanks btw didnt know there was a how to i will search. can you post it incase i cant find it? haha and also do you have any tips for things i can do while it sits here untill spring? like compound i can put on it or wax that when i do put it on the car will help preserve it?
There is a bracket on the USDM bumper that you will have to drill out and remove. Then rivet that to the JDM bumper. I'm not great with my hands and I did this swap with no issues. I had more problems with the Demonwerkz crash beam more than anything, but after much thought figured it all out. My bumper is on for almost 2 years and I never waxed it. Comes nice and clean with a good hand wash.

^ yea thats pretty well known, or get it modified. I think I paid Speed Element $40 to chop mine so it fit. I wouldn't shell out the coin for the Demonworkz one when you can modify the stocker for cheap but the DW does have a lic plate tab so w.e
what did you have to chop to make the stock Crash beam fit?
and if i need to drill the rivets out and keep the stock retainer what is this?

That's a computer chair with scrap metal on it and an ipod charge cable on the floor.
Seriously though, I have no clue what those parts are. If that's a crash beam I wouldn't even run it as that won't save you from anything. Looks like a separate license plate bracket then.
Some one correct me if i'm wrong but that looks like the retainer for the JDM bumper which is riveted to the bumper. The other piece looks like the license plate frame bracket. Did you get the demonwerks crash beam or are you modifying the stock crash beam?
Yeah thats definitely the retainer...
The crash-beam is the larger part attached with bolts to the frame...
You will def have to alter it to fit with the JDM bumper. Or, like others mentioned get the Demonworkz (or other variants) for the smaller clearance...
Good luck!
