How to Make an Intake Heat shield
Quick update! The heat shield survived its first track day last weekend! It was pretty hot out, somewhere around 100*f and it didn't melt, bend or anything like that (unlike my bumper that caught fire lol but that's another story). Again no scientific nonsense but simply putting my hand on either side, I could feel an enormous temperature difference!
Jay at Boosted Tuning did a test a while back with the stock piece and show a difference in cooler air with it on. I will see if I can find that post.

I couldn't tell you for sure. I'm guessing it would help out a bit but if you can seal this shield against the bonnet (ie. use the foam/weather stripping along the top as suggested) I don't think the gains would be that significant...if any. The bonnet in essence can act like a heat soak and with the amount of air cooling that vs the top of a heat shield, it may infact be cooler not to have it enclosed. But what do I know lol
