Cold air intake
Cold air intake
First off, I am a girl and new to costumizing my car. I have done my best to search for an answer to my particular question to see if the answer was available.
I have an EVO X MR (automatic). I installed a InJen cold air intake, because I was told it was a cool thing to do. My issue is that when I accelerate hard, it's sounds fine, but when I only slighty accelerate and then let off, it sounds horrible. Like a whoopie cushion or a balloon deflating.
Is this the cool sound I've been longing for?
So far, from research my conclusion is: I need a down pipe, or a blow off valve, or a tune (which negates my warrenty).
Are any of these accurate? Do I need all three? Or does none of this apply?
Comical answers are ok, but I would like to know if I do have an issue.
Thanks!

You may want to look into getting a tune. Your car is probably fine, but to get the most out of your intake (mostly to ensure you're not running lean) you should have the car tuned after install.
You don't necessarily need all of those parts you listed. Most people put parts on their car for some sort of gain, be it horse power, social status (within a particular social group) to show financial status or what have you.

the op is probably right. It's most likely a little bit of surge. My car does is once in a while. A lot of stock ones do once in a while as well. At low rpms with little boost the stock bov does not always open long enough. You wont really here this on the car with the stock intake, it muffles the noise, now on the aftermarket it makes the "cool" turbo sounds and such louder. For example it makes the spooling and bov sounds more audible.
Either that or car is confused and wants to sound like a fart can "race" Honda haha
Hope this helped you
