Evo 8 valve cover gasket install??

I'll be replacing my gasket as i have a small leak and my gaskets arrived today. Can someone shed some light on how much torque i need to tighten the screws? In looking at the video, it is a very simple job to do.

Thanks in advance.

I just replaced the gasket and the spark plug gaskets earlier today. I just hand tighten mine , I know I have seen the torque specs floating around here though

Remember inch pounds not ft pounds. Oh and e very careful as you can crack it super easily. I loosen from the outside in and tighten from the inside outward

Also as a bit of a technical tip, you can put a small amount of rtv on the corners of the gasket so it says stuck in the valve cover and doesnt fall off and get sandwiched between the head causing it to not seal correctly, i always do this, its hard to keep the gasket on and align everything with only 2 hands.

Bumping this.

I replaced my gaskets, but haven't started it yet. Was wondering if there was any accurate way of tightening the bolts without a meter of some sort. Someone here said hand tightening it, but it that good?

Is quoting yourself from 3 years ago allowed!? As mentioned work your way outward and just snug them up. It doesnt need to be exact science so just snug them down but dont give it the beans or else you'll crack it. I actually prefer to not use a torque wrench for my VC these days whenever I pull it.

Yeah i know it's 31 in-lb, but i don't have anything to gauge it. Any way of doing it without a tool?

Yes, as I mentioned just snug them up with a ratchet. No need to really get them torqued to spec, just feel it out. Its not like its structural so I wouldnt be too concerned about it. But tight enough that it wont vibrate out but not too tight where you'll crack the magnesium VC.
