Great vid but you did say remove the alternator. No need to remove the alternator when replacing the water pump.

 

Request - Drive shaft lobro joint and the importance of protecting the boot. This is something many people are unaware of. I tried the FSM shop cloth trick and every time the shaft bent a little the cloth would pop out.

 

How much harder will it be to complete this job while the engine is still in the car? I'm due up for service soon and debating if I should take my car to a shop or do it myself.

 

The water pump install is just bolts and an o-ring - about the same in the car or out. Getting to it is the trick. Its a timing belt job. If you can do a timing belt then no problem. Otherwise farm the job out.
