To remove the timing belt idler pulley remove the power steering pump first.
Thanks for the info

Thank you for the video/info!

When the balance shaft elimination is done, however, does it matter where the front oil pump sprocket (that used to drive the front balance shaft) is when the belt is installed?

Great question.

I would assume, if you swapped in a stubby shaft, you would not have to worry about setting it with the timing. However, it would be great if someone here on EVOm could confirm.

My understanding is that if you remove balance shafts, then position of front replacement shaft won't matter.

And I wouldn't use a stubby shaft because it doesn't provide enough support to resist tension from oil pump gear. Use GSC's billet balance shaft delete.

Ticking noise

Hey guys i am having a problem with my evo 8 i replaced the timing belt. Bought gates timing belt kit new. I alined everything properly rotated the engine and waited 25 minutes to see if the grenade pin goes it smooth, and it did. So i went and turn the car on and started doing a ticking noise was wondering if anyone went through that problem.

This video will come in handy. Sometimes you can't trust anyone but yourself.
