S2K to Evo cluster swap

This thread is outdated and long.
Here's my quick and to the point guide on this swap.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...l#post11771172

How's it going everyone, I'm new to evom.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, tried finding the correct one haha.

Anyways, I more or less joined just so I would have a place to upload this info for later reference, because I kinda suck at keeping up with info/pictures on my phone.

I'll be uploading pictures/info as I go through this project.

I'll be starting off with an S2K AP1 cluster and harness.

For now, just waiting on parts to deliver.

Bought a chopped gauge cluster harness off an Evo 8 parts car.

No way I'd chop into my personal one just yet lol.

Yeah. I've personally never been a huge fan of the OEM cluster.

Some people love the S2K cluster <me.
Some hate it, lol.

Either way. Wanted to try something different.

OEM cluster sucks. Boring as hell. I've always been a fan of the S2k one.

Yeah
I physically have everything I should need.

The main thing to overcome here is going to be calibrating the tachometer, speedometer, coolant temp, and fuel level.

I've researched just about every S2K cluster swap thread out there ranging from Honda Accord forums, to 2g DSM forums.

Pretty sure I can use the K-tuned S2K dash converter to adjust the cluster to where it'll need to be.

This supposedly adjusts Speed, coolant temp, and fuel level via a USB connection and computer software availible from K-tuned.

After that It's just fitting the new cluster into the dash in a fashionable way...
Tried reaching out to an Australian cluster company for one of their cluster blanks...however they're pretty pricey...guess I'll be making my own.

That comes out to about $520 USD right?

You might be able to get a cluster on the cheap at a junk yard and just get/make the CF insert. Should be WAY cheaper.

Yeah I thought of that.

What I may actually do instead is make that insert from a spare cluster shroud instead.

Like this.

ALSO.
Would anyone be able to pull a wiring diagram for the gauge cluster harness for me?
I've been searching around and haven't found one yet.

I already have an S2k diagram.

No idea why this uploaded as a GIF.

Quick update.

The majority of the harness wiring I'll need came in the mail a couple days ago. Haven't had time to start on it with me being busy with training.

However I did manage to gather some excellent wiring diagrams for the S2K AP1 cluster.

AP1 diagram, color coded

Ha, me too. Just now started opening up the cluster.

I may or may not change the color template. If I do I'd probably need to do an LED swap on the cluster to get a nice color out of it...since the bulbs in it burn orange/yellow.

oh well. Just gonna focus on getting it working first.

If you do attempt this, be careful taking off the white cover. It's pretty thin and the tabs will break very easily.

Working out what wires we'll be needing to keep, and what wires to cap off.

There's 41 wires to the S2K (AP1) cluster versus 30 to the Evo 8 cluster...

If somebody happens to have a color coded Evo cluster harness you'd be my saviour right about now.

struggling to find one. Once I get to the evo harness I'll make a list of what wires go where between the S2K/Evo harnesses.

I did the AP1 S2K cluster swap into my EG civic 6 years ago. I don't know about putting it into an Evo tho 🤔

Personally I like the cluster.

How did you go about programming your tach/speedo/fuel/coolant back then?

You have compiled a bunch of good info already.

I could program an arduino to translate the values between signals. Let me see if I can find a pinout of the Evo cluster.
