Possible ignition issue fix
Hello all,
This forum has helped me countless times in the past 10 years I've owned evos. Here is a small contribution of something I may have found. I may not be the first person to have found this, but I couldn't find anyone else with this same problem/fix on google or evom net.
Problem:
Intermittent ignition. Have to roll start frequently.
Items checked/replaced:
All fuses - checked
Starter + relay - replaced
Wiring to starter - checked for breaks, tightened connections, power+ground
Ignition switch in steering column - replaced https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-starting.html
Fuel relays - checked
Fuel pump - replaced
After checking/replacing all of the above, the car still had random no-start and the only way to get it started was the roll the car back and forth in gear, then hop in real quick to switch it on.
I've dealt with this for the past 3 years and tried everything.
This time, I believe I have found the culprit and I'm hating myself for not noticing this all this time.
Pictures explain everything:
fuse box
Inside that left fuse box there is an exposed switch that looks like this:
ignition switch
As you can see, that tiny metal band that connects is broken. How this broke...
THIS WAS THE PROBLEM ALL THESE YEARS!!!
I soldered it together and all is well in the world.

Glad you found the cause, that had to be hard to spot. Anyway, that's a relay - a relay that someone pulled the enclosure off of and in the process broke it. Does it need the enclosure? Probably not, the enclosure is mostly there to keep what happened to you from happening.
