Just curious...

What 12" subs with any power use this little volume? Personally I don't like the idea of using a polyfill bandaid.

Here's a couple popular models -

Diamond Audio D6 - .875 cubic feet sealed

Diamond Audio D3 12 - 1.0 cubic feet sealed

JL Audio 12W6 - 1.25 cubic feet sealed

JL Audio 12W3 - 1.25 cubic feet sealed

Alpine Type R 12 - .7 - 1.0 cubic feet sealed

The polyfill may aid in helping with a smaller volume but the main reason we use it for is the sound quality benefits. You can take it out to play around but personally I've always like the sound of an enclosure with some dampening compared to without, both standard mdf enclosures and fiberglass.

You're right about the Alpine and the D6s, but you're off on the JL audio and the D3s.

Well, with both the JL audio, you're not subtracting the driver displacement, so you are about 2.5 liters too small
JL Audio Tech Sheet

With the D3 12s, they say a 1.5 cuft enclosure (net). Unless you're talking about the DS12s... but those are a nom 250W, max 500W.
D3 Tech Sheet

Thanks for your help!

^^ Sorry, should of stated that it was close and not dead on, the subwoofer displacement should be factored in (along with anything else in the enclosure) but in all reality the difference isn't much. With all the enclosure I've built over the years (mdf & fiberglass) I've found that you'll have a hard time hearing the difference when things are that close. That is with most subwoofers, you may come across one that the difference is quite audibility noticeable. I know if measured with an RTA you'll be able to see a difference, but most common people wouldn't be able to hear the difference in 150 - 200 cubic inches (.086 - .115 cubic feet)

Of course this is with a sealed enclosure only, ported is another story. Diamond's tech sheets must be off somewhere, I pulled those numbers from the tech sheet that comes with the subwoofer. Maybe one is last years model and ones current , but that's what the D3 12 (non shallow) sheet stated.

There are no plans for a spare tire enclosure at this time, seems to be a popular item for people to want to have We may be able to custom make you a spacer ring to extend the mounting depth, it will change the overall look of the enclosure by not having a vinyl flush trim ring, but at least it will get the woofer to fit. p.m. us if you're interested in that option.

This looks top notch. Excellent work. Over the years, my friend and I have built a number of glass enclosures to form fit in both cars and trucks, so I know the amount of hard work that goes into it.

I too would be interested in:
1. 10" enclosure
2. passenger side also

Yeah, we extended the introductory sale for a bit longer until the end of the month so you still have a little time left and yes both the Alpine Type R and JL W6 fit and work well in the enclosure. We do quite a bit of the W6's out the shop, seem to be the popular choice.

Let us know if you have any other questions we can help ya with.

Bump for a great enclosure and vendor.

The JL 12W6 does fit and sound AMAZINGLY musical despite the enclosure's air volume being a bit too small. I have it running off a JL 500/1.
