Erik....

I cannot find this fluid on any of Castrol's websites.. You state it is a GL-4 which is absolutely necessary for the EVO Trans. Could you verify the GL-4 Rating.

And so everyone knows, that GL-3 they are calling for in the X is an antiquated rating that they are trying to use to make you come back to the Stealership to buy overpriced fluid.

If this Castrol fluid is a GL-4 it can be used as can the AMSOIL MTG although MTF would be necessary if you are worried about warranty.

I think they call it SynTrans in their marketing literature. I am guessing they have an exclusive distribution (or licensing) agreement with Dodge, Chrysler and GM because it's OEM fluid for those companies...which is why it's so hard to find info on. It's the OEM tranny fluid in at least one high-end Dodge vehicle. I know the drum I have reads "Castrol Syntorq LT."

I had to deal with a number of people before I could source this stuff. Not everyone knew where to find it.

I also don't think I'd have 96,000+ miles on my transmission if it weren't GL-4

Let me know if that helps.

Erik,

Is there any way to verify that it does have the GL-4 Rating ?

I'll check the drum tonight. It might also be printed on one of the quart containers you get at the dealer. I'll see if I have one of them laying around too.

It says GL4 right on the back of the Quart container. I think the part # is even NV-4500 because it's really for the NV4500 trannys.

Looking to do a 6 speed tranny and t-case flush/refill soon, which fluid would you recommend go in the t-case along with the castrol?

The rear Diff uses 75W-90 and takes just over a pint.

The Transfer Case uses the same fluid... 2 Qts will do both.

AMSOIL SVG 75W-90 is a great lube.

Most other lubes do not even pass the tests required.

Let's keep this thread on topic please. If anyone has questions for anything other than CASTROL SYNTORQ LT please either PM me or oildoc. Let's keep superfluous things out of the tranny fluid FOR SALE thread. Thank you

P.S. Response for the Castrol has been overwhelming. We are currently out. More will be coming in the new year. Thanks for all the orders.

Price will be $15 for S&H + either 43.99 or 49.99 for the 5 speed.

Was supposed to get a new drum this weekend, but Castrol is dragging its feet getting the drum out. Should have some next week.

Let me know whenever it's ready to ship - can we purchase on a website, or via Paypal? I'll need it for the 5-speed - thanks!
