^If it doesn't have a huge pressure drop (similar to the buschur racing of .84) than yeah it should help alot. Secondly yes it would help the stock turbo especially during extended driving on hot days. The BEST reason to upgrade now is to get ready for your turbo upgrade. Thats why if this kit gets released with lower intercooler piping im buying it...lol (off topic) this post took almost 30 minutes to type because my next door neighbors in the dorm room just got in a fist fight over halo ...haha...i hate my life

I'd get it, looks like a pretty good unit.

One thing I don't see mentioned is the external pressure drop (the amount of air pressure behind the intercooler). This is important to keep good airflow to the radiator and keep coolant temps in check especially in a road course and/or hot climate environments. There is no use for cool temp charges when coolant temps skyrocket and fuel enrichment cuts in.

Any results against the BR Intercooler?

Also - is the piping you are making aluminum or SS. (please say aluminum and 2.5inch)

BR numbers have been tested and will be released soon. What we noticed was that the BR intercooler uses a more dense fin configuration (18 fins per inch vs the nisei 12 fpi). If no one has overheating problems with the buschur, then for sure they wont with the Nisei. We did notice the buschur intercooler is actually an intercooler instead of a heat sink (like most the other FMIC's we've tested and seen). It's pretty well designed, but not up to the quality of the Nisei. The buschur uses end tanks fabbed out of sheet metal while the Nisei has fully cast end-tanks specifically for the Evo. They are not off the shelf like 99% of all the other intercoolers out there. The Buschur has an internal split fin, which we honestly werent expecting. But we still managed to cool more effectively than the buchur though, but not by much. I'll try to post the exact numbers tonight.

But the Buschur intercooler definately has a flow limit though, as we were already getting a small pressure drop with the stock turbo. With a large turbo more would defiantely be expected. What we did notice is that we had to turn down the boost for the nisei intercooler because we would hit fuel (overboost) cut. This confirmed even more than that nisei intercooler isnt affected by a pressure drop and flows whatever the turbo feeds it without any flow restriction. With the buchur we had to turn up the HKS EVC a couple clicks from our nisei setting in order to hit fuel cut.

More to come!

About the intercooler piping.....it will absolutely be aluminum. We're almost done designing it, and it looks great...and guess what! You can keep your stock airbox and eliminate a lot of piping at the same time! We're confident this piping kit, like the intercooler, will set a new standard in the Evo market. It will be available in the Nisei standard color scheme (anodized black) and polished for those that like a side-order of bling with their main serving of performance!

What is truly remarkable is the mini-battery kit. I know for sure these things will be HOT. I wish i could post up the pictures, but we dont want to officialize anything before we finish the design. The tray design is done...the bracket needs some adjustments and we hopefully will have it available in a couple weeks. Just as a hint though, it's a full CNC billet battery tray that will DEMOLISH the competition. Stay tuned!

Rob

This is nearly impossible to measure without some way to isoloate the air passing through and measure it. I can assure you that in over a year of testing, we have not noticed ANY change in coolant temps.

Everyone keep an eye out for the next issue of D-Sport magazine. One of our customers is in the magazine....guess what he's got behind his bumper? He switched from the AVO intercooler.
