the new cams look sweet. I have question about the old ones though.

what ends up happening to the paint that wears off the lobs? Where would it end up? It doesn't sound like something I would want floating around in there.

It wears just like everyone elses cams including OEM cams. I know it sounds like something you wouldn't want in your engine but it has been through it before. Thanks for the complement on the look. I like them too.

laggy. If not what would the better setup be for that turbo.

Thanks
nope go with the 264/272 you need more exhaust pressure to help the turbo spool.

here is a little dyno comparison for everyone it really impressed me so i figured i would share it for all to see.

Here is the base line dyno

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a list of mods with out any cams
Mods at 296.9WHP were...
Injen Intake w/ upper piping
Nology Hotwires
Stock turbo/hotside/o2 housing
3" DP, high-flow cat, cat-back
Walbro fuel pump
Hallman Boost controller
TT Flash/tune

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the exact same list of mods as above but with GSC 264/264 cams and Mark from TT added a little fuel for the cams

Yes thats 45whp and it was all in the cams. for all the stock turbo guys this is the best setup out there. if there are plans for an upgrade go for the 272/264 or the 264/272!

Damn!!!! Who's car is that???!!!!!!! Seriously though, we actually put the cams on in the parking lot of FIS, drove for a couple miles to make sure there were no problems, and back up on the dyno it went. These cams gave me a serious power increase with the combination of Mark adding some more fuel up-top. Great job to GSC for coming out with these. Also, with the GSC 264/264 combo, there you don't NEED a set of aftermarket cam gears...and my idle sounds awesome.

Funny thing is that the weather was colder for the first two dyno charts. April in Texas starts to get pretty warm, and that's when the cam dyno was done.

Thumbs up

I noticed you have a boost controller, how much are you boosting?, and was it the same for all of the dyno runs? I just got my 264/272 Buddy Club cams today, hope to have similar numbers within the next two weeks.

The boost was set to 22-23 without the cams and bumped to 23-24 with the cams/added fuel. Good luck with your Buddy Club cams, I haven't heard much about them...only that the GSC's are getting great reviews.

Ive searched and searched on this topic and cant get a definitive answer on this, so here goes... Prior to this thread I had read that you recommeded a 272/264 setup for an autox/daily driver setup, now your saying that unless your going to upgrade the turbo you would recommend just a straight 264/264. What would the benefits be of going with 264/264 over 272/264 or 272/272? I autoX and would like more mid range power but, dont want to give up a lot up top to get it. If I do upgrade the turbo it would be with a straight bolt in, ie white rabbit or 21g. Thanks for your info Greg, I will be going with your cams relatively soon.

Let me see if i can explain this. the 272/264 setup is great for people who want upper and midrange that are on a stock turbo(03-04 with stock exhaust housing) and going to go to an upgraded turbo(ie switch in a 272 exhaust). If you upgrade the turbo to a white rabbit or something small you would want low to mid range power. if you look at the differences in the 272/264 and 264/264 the 272/264 makes about 8 more HP but looses a little bit on the bottom. for what your looking for i would say 272/264. Now for people that have stock turbos and will always keep it and auto cross the car and street only 264/264 is more than enough and no need for cam gears or anything a quick swap in tune and pick up 45whp. sounds like $1k well spent to me.

Greg
