The only disadvantage is weight that I can see. The advantage is price, some $80 cheaper then alum. Steel can rust but the Nisei pipe is coated to prevent that. I'm sure in some places in the US it's still possible for rust in extreme conditions.

Does the pipe actually weigh 4 lbs? Or is that the packaged weight for shipping with all the Tbolts and couplings?

The total alum kit that nisei sells was posted on their forums. I believe it was 4.25lb or so for all 3 pipes. So steel weights about 3 times more the alum nisei licp. Just some fyi.
