New Product: Nisei Engineering 1018 Lower Intercooler Pipe - $139!!
There's no confirmed date, but what Nisei told me is around December - January. Right now there are other things in production like pipe kits and the upcoming turbo kit. The intercooler will be back in production after those are done.
Is everyone getting the same exciting results with these as everyone is raving about with the Horsepower Freaks and AMS LICP?
I understand it looks very nice, and is very well built; but nobody has said anything about performance yet.

Alright. I ordered the pipe. I installed the pipe, along with another mod. So here's what I found out.
On 10/14/06 I dyno'd my car, with just a K&N drop in and the top filter cover removed. I dyno'd 280 hp and 268 lbft of torque.
I added a Hallman MBC, upped my boost to 20 with a taper to 19, and installed the Nisei LICP. I dyno'd on 10/25/06. The ambient temperature was only 7 degrees cooler (from 65 to 58) and I dyno'd 305 whp and 280 lbft of torque.
I spoke with Kevin at Nisei, and he still states (like most people I've talked to) that the LICP DOES NOT help with horsepower increases. They have done a lot of testing on this and haven't seen any proven results. But he did state that he has had people tell him many times that it does make a difference.
What I will say is this. On my previous IX GSR, I had the HPF LICP on it. I had problems with fitment, and it liked to pop off. It very well could have been that me and the people I had try to resolve the issue didn't know how to install an LICP, though I think unlikely. So I'll leave that out. Performance wise, the HPF LICP was awesome.
The Nisei piece is just as great. It makes the turbo spool so much more linear. The fitment for me was perfect. The bracket keeps the pipe sitting level, so that the fairing underneath isn't bowed (there is also a hose for the a/c down there that my HPF LICP liked to rub against, which was evident by the black on the gray powdercoating, and the Nisei piece doesn't do that). The same clamps come with the Nisei component that came with HPF's. The pipe is also cheaper than the HPF component. All in all I would definitely recommend this piece to others.
Kevin (he makes the LICP's) stands behind his product. I've spoken with him several times on the phone about this, and have been very satisfied with his level of service. He has stated if I have any issues, I can call him and he'll do whatever he can to fix them.
Hope that helps. I dont like putting junk on my car (and DEFINITELY NOT stating that HPF's pipe was junk. I just had trouble with it working for me, but the product was built just as well as any other I have seen). Since I don't like to put junk on it, I try and research as much as I can before I buy something. I'm very satisfied with the Nisei LICP, and hopefully it will work out for others like it has for me.
