I agree... I'm interested in the product but I think I can change my oil 3 times as often with the new less happy Mobil 1 and do at least as well. I don't get close to any sort of service interval otherwise as ALL the fluids get changed after each track day.

How would changing to another brand oil affect our warranty if something happens to the engine even though its not directly related to what sort of oil was used?
Im sure Mitsu would check to see what type/ brand/ viscosity oil was used, right?

Got a case last friday and put it in just in time for the wet autox I was at on saturday, the engine feels like it has less mechanical drag when winding down through a gear like 5th, it used to drag my speed down much faster not I just feel smooth acceleration and coasting in the gear, not slowing much.
Overall feels great, I would do it again, better than mobil 1. Not sure if it is going to be much better then AMSOIL but maybe.

I got my case yesterday... once the car is tuned I'm going to see if anything can be noticed on a "road" dyno. Not the most accurate way to test but it's more accurate than the butt dyno.

Brand of oil has no effect on Warranty in the US. Mits or anyone else that sells in the States is Governed by The Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975. If they tell you that you MUST use a certain product or it voids the Warranty, They have to pay for it !
Will never reach a 0 or a 50 weight ?? Oils are tested at 32 Degrees F (the first number or 0 in this case) and at 212 Degrees F (the second number or 50 in this case).
Basic explanation....Winter number: At 32 Degrees, oil is in a cup with a steel ball in it and a magnet rotating underneath... Summer weight: At 212 Degrees the oil goesthrough a drip system and the number of drips are measured..
SO, the chances of an oil seeing these temps, above and/or below are quite realistic.
If your lifters are "Ticking" it could be because the oil has sheared back and too thin to keep the hydraulic lifter pumped up..
Another thing we have just started seeing.... Oil companies have reduced/removed some of the additives (zinc and phosphorous) which are essential in Flat Tappet engines to control contact surface wear. If Eneos, or any oil you are running currently has the API starburst, the additives have been reduced/removed.
The ONLY way to tell how any oil is "holding up" is through Certified Oil Analysis. This will give you wear metals, contaminants and the grade (weight) of the oil.
Of course Mits uses Enous.. Nippon, means Japan... Japan oil company... I am sure for the same reasons that GM and a few other OEM's have Mobil 1 in some of their vehicles, they get Paid to have it in there and Mobil makes it up in residual sales...
Oh.... and Mobil 1 Extended Performance IS a synthetic oil...

Absolutely right !
I look at oil analysis as cheap insurance against pending disaster.
It is the only way to get a look at what is happening inside your engine without tear down and the only way to know how good your oil is.
