A little backround behind the madness
After running a sequential shifter on one of our demo cars we came to the realization that we really loved how close the shifter was to the steering wheel.
The new Titan knobs were developed to put the shifter closer to the steering wheel. Thus minimizing the shift distance and time your hand is on the shifter. We modeled this shifter after some sequential units that we liked.
These are made locally here for us on a CNC lathe spun from a solid chunk of aluminum. The knob is extremely weighty and has a nice solid feel to it!
note* Finished product has much smoother rolled edges that feel great in your hand!
Short shifter kit is recommended when using this knob.

Also I know it says short shifter kit recommended but what if this knob was used on OEM shifter 5-speed? Would there be any ill effects or some sort?

You can use it without a short shifter with no ill effects. However since the knob is very tall it will increase the shifter throw.
