Looking for an aftermarket radio without line noise

I currently have the following stereo in my EVO:
Sony CDX-7705X
Audiobahn 3 way rear speakers
Pioneer 3 way door speakers
Audiobahn .5" tweeters in stock a-pillar location
Audiobahn 1" tweeters near top of pillar

OK now that I'm done with the mod list, I would like to say I am using the power from the Sony deck to power my speakers. In AM/FM radio the output is about 1/2 as loud as the CD player. Furthermore, I get a nice line noise, which is more present when the AC is on, but this is not always true, the fan can be switched off and I will still get the noise.

I have came to the conclusion that these good tweeters and rear speakers are much more subjective to line noise than the stock OE items. I also believe that the POS Sony CD-Player is causing me some problems with line noise. I am using a good ground and a wiring harness to interface to the stock wiring.

Any ideas?!?

This is because you have the Source Level Ajustment (or SLA) all the way up. Turn it down (you'll have to go through your menu to do it. Look it up in your manual) until you have the same volume on radio as cd.

I don't think the Sony has this adjustment. I dont really like the look of the Pioneer or Kenwood decks, how are Eclipse decks?

I got tweets and comps in my Evo too but running separate amps from Eclipse HU w/ RCA cables. And yes, it does whine like a bi*ch when engine is running from alternator noise.

Couple things to check:
- reground all points to bare metal panels
- unhook antenna and see
- try quality wiring
- separate signal and pwr wires
- swap HUs in your case
- re position tweet/comp crossovers

So, why are you running tweet/comps off HU instead of separate amp?

GL I'm still working on my noise!

I'm running the Sony CDX-M8805X, and I'm not having any issues with line noise. I'm running Focal Polyglass components up front and focal coax in the back. I'm powering them with a seperate amp though....

Eclipse does make great H.U.s to answer your question from above. Very nice product IMO. I an Eclipse in my last car for 3 years, and loved it.

I had a whine in my system until I upgraded the RCAs. The original ones I used did not have good sheilding. But since Joe's Evo8 is coming off the deck and not from amps the only suggestion would be to try a better speaker wire (smaller gauge or better construction).
