Need Help: Possible to R&R Trunk Badge?
This morning, some jerk in his pickup rear ended me pretty bad in my EVO.
Surprisingly, the UK 'EVO VIII' badging came through without a scratch (even though the trunk and rear bumper are smashed to all heck). I'd really like to remove the letters before I take it to the collision shop, then re-apply them to the new trunk. (insurance won't cover aftermarket stuff, including my now-scratched Clearbra from the front end collision, when I was shoved into the van in front of me)
I'm sure I can get the letters off pretty easily using the dental floss method (same as taking off the original badging). But does anyone have any good ideas on what to use for adhering the letters back on?
Also, does anyone have any pointers on how to preserve the alignment/spacing of the letters? I'm thinking about trying to mark their positions on a piece of paper or something, but it's sounding a little half-baked so far.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This has been a rotten day for me and my Evo...
Thanks,
Rob

Just a wild guess, reverse the order of application process. Get some strong masking tape (masking tape at lowes doesn't seem to be sticky enough). Place tape over badge. Use dental floss to separate the badge from the trunk.
3m makes a pretty good 2 sided tape. Its fabric based and strong as hell. We use it at work for various aircraft applications. We order it from a GSA catalog, so I have no idea where you would get it anywhere else. Maybe Home Depot or Lowes. Ill check for a part number tomorrow, but I dont know if it will do you any good without the book.
