A paint sealer/protectant would seem to do a good job protecting, whether it's thinner or not. I don't know, I'm guessing, but once you put it on, then let us know. It feels better to the hand than wax.
actually logically speaking i would think thickness does matter or atleast that in combination with hardness...... thats what carnuaba is a great protection, its one of the hardest natural wax......

its not to say everyone needs to drive with a cm thick wax on the car but acid rain, brake particals, dirt and wind will sheer away the wind...wax on the car simply does that, its just armor.. not some fancy chemical. i cant deny the awesome shine zaino does, maybe the synthetic wax can truely get between the microscopic cracks and valleys on the clearcoat to truely give the deep shine but protection against the elements? hmmm

I've used Zaino and Meguiars Gold Class (full systems) on my cars for several years and I see very little difference especially on Black cars. There was actually a test on here...one owner did half Zaino and half Meguiars on his Tarmac...also with little difference.

I just did the Dawn / Claybar / Dawn and followed that up with Meguiars NXT generation polymer. The car looks great and the best part....Unlike Zaino it was easy on and easy off. It dried quickly and the shine is fantastic. Only time will tell how long it lasts or how durable it is but so far I'll be using NXT instead of Zaino or Gold Class.

The advantage Zaino has over other waxes is that it does last a long time if you apply even one good coat. Just wash it and spray some Z6 gloss enhancer and it looks and feels like the first time you applied the Zaino. It optical properties makes the car look purple in certain light and angles. This is even on dark cars.

I actually do like meguires.. used it for 12 yrs on an integra. no clear coat (red). it worked great. I'm not so worried about the elements with the clearcoat on the evo. And the finish feels very slick so I imagine it should shed rain/particles easily. I'll have to wait to see how well it protects, but as I said, with the clearcoat, it isnt as big an issue for me as it used to be.
So I figured I would try something different. I like that it lasts so long and, contrary to what somewhat said, it was easy to put on and take off. The only hard part is the 1st time with the washing and the clay bar.

Actually, why do you say the zaino is thin? Just curious. I dont know of any thing that says it's thinner than wax. It might be, but I'm wondering how you know that? It feels the same as wax to my untrained hand.

And yes, 17x8, stock tires. I love the stock tires. The wheels were a good bargain and are very light. The 2 valve stems are a bit funky, but oh well. I'd say price is comparable to the 5zigens everyone and their sister seems to be getting (so these will be a little more unique), and these weigh 15.5 lbs (according to literature and someone else who actually weighed it on a scale).

I just got my order in today. I didn't get to use the Souveran over Z-2, but I just put a coat of Souveran on ym cousin's blue celica; it really is what everyone says it is. The wax smelled incredible and made the shine so deep! To bad the pollen covered all that up within an hour .

rockscience, this is what im trying to say..... zaino does an awesome job giving that super deep gloss..possibly cuz the synthetic polymers can really get between the lil cracks and valleys to create a mirror shine.....THIS would also give it a smooth texture you feel with your hands....

i have no doubt of its visually pleasing nature and long lasting properties.. my concern is when you apply it... you put SO little to spread so thinnly on the surface... on the other hand the carnuaba wax i apply on my evo must be spread and polished quick or it tries super hard.... i mean just logically i would think the carnuaba wax would protect more.... wat do u think?

Zaino is the best! I have been using zaino since i bought the evo.

I just finished my second coat of zaino (with Z5 and Z2). Will be putting in at least a couple more coats tomorrow. It should last for a while. And, i always did what zaino recommends: wash clean with dish cleaner, and also use a clay bar. It really helps to get the dirty stuff off the car before putting the zaino coats.

You use mutiple coats with zaino.. when you first do a car you apply z2/3 directly over z1 polish lock. Now they even have the z8 sealer spray.

I really thing u should check out their homepage http://zainobros.com .. they can explain their products better than I can.

Everything "bonds" together.. even the car wash.
