I've never had a car in my life that has more chips in the paint on the hood. I looks like someone dropped a bag of stone in front of the car.... I have a BBY and all the chips you can see white specs. What is the best way to fix this? Do I have to re-paint the entire hood?

 

I have the same problem and the same color. Makes me sick when I wash my car

 

welcome to mitsubishi's world of cheap paint...all thier colors are terrible and have cheap quality, i have yellow paint and my hood has 5430858450850345 chips =(

 

Repaint and then put a clear bra if it really gets to you. A friend has an 03 LY Evo and his paint chips on his hood is crazy. But for him... he doesn't much care about it.

I don't think has terrible colors... it's the lack of extra layers that sucks. I think they lay down one layer of paint and no clearcoat and that's it.

 

Wow...I thought maybe when my hood has so many chips it was just me....

I have a lot of chips too but they are pretty hard to see unless you are staring right at them since my car is silver.

 

I think everyone has the stupid chips....

Thats what happens when you drive so d@m fast!! Lol.

I was thinking about fixing them and thn having my entire car clear-coated. You think that would help?

 

I've got chips everywhere, even a couple on the doors?!?? I almost hate washing my car cuz I have to look at 'em all. And there's at least 3-4 new ones every time. Damn Colorado winters... And it looks like everyone who's posted so far lives somewhere that gets a good winter.

 

Just dont tailgate everyone and you should be all set.

you may want to check on if that is possible...i think in the 03-04 evos, mits used a 1 stage paint (paint and clearcoat mixed together)...im not sure if you can clear over that or not...

basically...the 03-04 factory paint is crap...most people will discover that they will need a full respray in 4-5 years so you might as well just respray the entire car

I started claybaring my Evo & found that the chips aren't anywhere near as bad as I thought.

Unfortunately, I recently tore my right index finger down to the bone... almost impossible to finish the car without using my right hand.

Really frustrating trying to shift using only the ring & pinkie fingers...

 

the only adv is, dont drive it, wax it every week, stay 1 mile behind all cars, screw this , paint sucks, fock this cheap paint
