clay bar will get anything and everything out of your paint. I was parked at the trainstation and i guess the town was sandcoating and it got all over my car. There were little black specs in my paint and no matter how much i washed/waxed it, the car still felt like sand paper. Lets just say clay bar did the job and it looks brand new now. just dont drop the clay!

Clay bars will NOT get everything off. Only surface contaminants.

If something is etched in the paint, in order to remove it, you will have to remove a minute layer of paint with a high speed buffer and an abrasive compound.

hey, you could try the product by zymol called HD Cleanse. I worked detailing cars for a long time, including literally all makes and models. Basically, the HD cleanse can be applied with a buffer/polisher, such as a Porter/Cable one mentioned on page 1, and it strips off all layers of wax, which will more than likely amount to almost enough depth to even out the etching (like mentioned above). Saying to remove some paint to level it out sounds harsh, and you are doing that, in essence, but the amount removed is so minute that layers of wax or other compounds will comprise most of the required depth. This may sound confusing, I apologize. But basically, get HD Cleanse from Zymol (try www.hmsmotorsport.com) do the whole car or simply the panel with the etching, then use a semi-abrasive compund, such as Poorboys SSR-2, then a coat of polish, such as Vanilla Moose Wax, and finish a good coat of wax. Zymol actually makes carnuba wax that is formulated for specificc marques, such as Japon, which is designed for the paint composition of Japanese cars. The polisher, Poorboys, and Vanilla Moose Wax can be gotten from www.detailersparadise.com. I have been using this stuff for many years, and have tried Klasse, Meguiars, Mothers, pretty much everything under the sun. I have people give me keys to they garage with Ferrari's, Porsches, and BMW/Mercedes in them to spend a weekend detailing their cars...no complaints ever

Just my opinion on this.

HD Cleanse is most likely not aggressive enough to remove etching.

You need something with a little more oomph. Something like this...

yea, you've gotta use a much more abrasive wax and rub very hard then follow up with a low abrasive

Thanks for the good info, I just bought a new red EVO X and SCM was unsuccessful at removing the water spots. Apparently, the car had been sitting in the lot getting water spots baked into the paint on a daily basis. I will let them try again but I may be SOL.
