Blacked my headlights

What do you guys think? Its not evodave quality, but I'm satisfied. Its the 2nd set I've done... Here are some pics. Opinions welcome. I wanted the amber on the bottoms, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how dave did it... so oh well.

Who said I can't cook?

Nope, the three bulbs (well one is fake) are all the original chrome reflectors but they sit farther back so its hard to tell. What I did paint black, which compromises the light quality, is the blinker reflectors. That is ALL black, so the blinker does not shine out. You can see it blink, but its not bright at all.

The tricky part was the inside "bulb" the inop fake looking light. That was a doozy to figure out how to mask. The solution was pretty simple though. We took the cap off a can of spray paint, make it tacky on the bottom by using painters tape, and simply stuck it over the bulb. It was a perfect fit.

I'm thinking about offering locals help to do this if they can't afford evo dave, but are to scared to do it on there own... Sorta like a buy me lunch and a six pack, keep me company, and we'll knock it out.

Hahah ooops....

I live in southern california, the 909 to be exact. This handle was made when I was stationed in NM. Sorry for the confusion.

So if anyone in Cali wants some help, maybe we can share some stories or something.

Tom

From the time I started taking the bumper off, till the time I took the final pictures.. 8 hours. With a break for a cigar, then going to autozone to buy paint// RTV, and dinner.

If someone sent me the headlights or just came over with the lights already off the car or something.... Probably about 3-5. The headlights are cooking for an hour alone, 15 per light, each light gets it 2x, one to take apart, one to put back together. with about another 30 minutes cool down. so that leaves about 2-3 hours for sand, mask, and paint. 10 minutes between coats, 3-5 coats.

Tomorrow comes the real test. I'm gonna wash the car to make sure they got a good seal. The car I've done this too before had the headlights for a year, in a snowy environment, and its yet to fog. I didn't do anything different so I don't anticipate a problem, but I guess you never know.
