For marine applications of the AVIC-N2, short the jumper pins at R197 (visible through the access port on the bottom of the head unit). You will also need to ground the parking brake.

(no, I don't know why somebody would buy a street navigation unit for a boat)

Yup, on the N1 all you have to do is ground out the ebrake. On the N2 you have to solder to connectors together or something like that, you do only have one shot at though like he said.

Install is actually really simple. With a wiring harness it is pretty much plug and play.

yeah I went there first and then to "Sound Advice" who intalled everything for me.
Both places told me there was no way to bypass the pioneer
so with the alpine they just put the switch under the dash by the drivers side door.
All I have to do is:
1- key on
2- e-brake on
3- foot on the brake
4-switch on/off
5- let your foot off the brake and waaaaalaaaaaaaaaa
At least with the alpine if you dont do these steps you cant even play with the cross-over, EQ settings and a lot of other stuff.

next GPS

Looks nice man, Couple of questions for you, or anyone with a avic 1 or 2....

1) Does the screen shake and rattle around while you're driving? Our Evos are really stiff I worry that it would rattle the whole time like my Passport X50 does.
2) What is the price difference between the avic 1 and 2? How did you get the software upgrade for yours?
