1) Does the screen shake and rattle around while you're driving? Our Evos are really stiff I worry that it would rattle the whole time like my Passport X50 does.
2) What is the price difference between the avic 1 and 2? How did you get the software upgrade for yours?
avic n1 is around 1100-1200 avic n2 is about 2000 give or take. No they don't rattle around.

so heres the "answer" what I was told is that there is a sticker you peel off and there are two "leads" sauter those two leads together, attach a switch. Thats all I was told also you have only one chance to do this. MAYBE Mitch can elaborate for you.

This is the correct way to do it. There is a sticker you peel off on the bottom and there are two leads labled R197 i believe...drop a solder between those and ground the parking brake wire and your done.

I've heard of something like that, But I personally wouldn't do it cause I've seen more then one n2 go bad. Once you open it and break the seal they wont warranty it obviously. What you can do is, on the brain itself, run a RCA wire from the video out into the rear camera in. Once that part is done, go to your setup and turn your rear camera on, when you slap a DVD in you'll get sound but switch over to the rear camera for the video. You wont get a full screen rather a 3/4 screen and 1/4 of the navigation map. It works nice and you don't void you warranty, if anything goes wrong you can send the unit it. Hope that helps.

I heard that the motors that run the screen up and down wear out quickly(especially during winter months). Can you stop the screen from automatically hiding when you shut the car off? B/c if you void the warranty for hacking the gyro, you won't be able to send it back to get the motors fixed.
