I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I've heard of guys using rubber plugs and painting them silver to match. The problem is findind plugs that aren't too gaudy. Does anyone know the diameter of the holes so we can find plugs before taking the wing off?

painting the plugs...hmm cool concept. since my car is black, i can leave it as is
and youre right...i need to know the correct size to use. i think worst comes worst we go to home depot and find the closest size plug and use a razor blade to slowly shave off the side to make it a perftect fit. it would be ideal to buy the plugs that is the right size so no shaving is needed though, so basically "plug" and play, lol lame joke..sorry

dude dont worry about the rain.......those holes do not point directly to the carpet or inside for that matter. There are "rain guides" just under the holes and it lets the water seep down towards the tail lights and down the bumper. go ahead and try it with a hose and I gaurantee you wont get the carpet wet. {thumpup} it was pouring over here in cali not too long ago and I had those holes WIDE open. No wet carpet whatsoever.

He's right... I have a system covering my entire trunk, and I never had to worry about rain with the holes open.

glad to hear...so no part of the interior gets wet at all? also another reason i want to do this is so it looks "clean" and doesnt look like some sti owner just shot up your evo
i was originally going to swap the trunk but i already had a solanoid installed and didnt wanna go thru that again lol.

ok, now i have to ask you to post pix of your system about to install mines on saturday and just want to see what other members have.
and also another question guys, how easy was it to remove the wing? i see there are two holes on each side, and ive also heard that there is double sided tape holding down the wing between the screws? thanks again guys

yes the double sided tape is flippin' a ***** to take off. Its easier to have 2 people take it off at the same time. It makes things easier if you take a blow drying and point it directly to the underside of the wing to make it really HOT. This process will start to loosen the adhesive and make it easier to take off. When you got both sides melted down a lil then pull it off while another person holds down the trunk. Be carefull not to smak the window or the body of the car. Also make sure you pull it off straight and not slanted so that you dont scratch the trunk.

I use self adhesive rubber/ plastic pads from home depot. I think they are intended as "feet" for apliances or furniture to prevent scrapes on floors and counters.

I use clear ones and they have stayed put since 03' through carwashes whatever. Using plugs or stoppers doesn't work well as there is not enough clearance on some of the holes and they will be pushed out when you close the trunk.

lol hte double sided tape IS a pain to take off. it took me a while to get off my trunk badges. had to "borrow" a bottle of goo gone from work to take off all the residue when u remove the wing, was there any "battle scars" left intact? pix would be nice if u can bro, but if u dont wanna, its cool too

unfortunately I can't because my camera is with my mother in hawaii. but the holes are no bigger than a penny. some smaller.
