Installed New Horns on IX MR

I hope I posted this in the correct forum.

Well, here's my first official mod, and it's non-performance related. Living in Southern California with some of the worst drivers around, I think it was pretty necessary.

After almost getting creamed (once again) by a BMW driver on his cell phone, I decided to upgrade the stock horns to the Hella Twin Supertone Horn. Installation wasn't too bad. It just took forever to take off the front bumper.

Here's the stock Low Tone Horn:

Here's the stock High Tone Horn:

In Comparison:

Low Lone Installed:

High Tone Installed:

All put back together:

I would record the sound, but my digital camera seems to have a built-in limiter, so the recording of the new horns actually sounds QUIETER than the stock ones. The Hella horns are noticably louder, but not crap-in-your-pants loud. I think it might have something to do with the placement of the horns. The Hella Twin Supertone Horn are very directional, so I think it will a lot louder if I fabricated a new bracket for the middle horn so that it's not behind the intercooler.

I got it from SafeDrives.com, but I think you might be able to find a tad cheaper elsewhere.

I also got the 2.5 Lb. Halotron Fire Extinguisher there. I'm trying to figure out how to mount it. They only good place seems to be the trunk right now.

I've been thinking of doing this myself, but I'd like to hear a sound clip.

Maybe stand further away from the car in a parking lot or something.

Hmm, yeah... I'll try to find a wide open space then... if anything it will at least let you know what the tone sounds like.

I would paint the red parts black for a cleaner more sleeper look, but I like the mod alot. Excellent work .
