Hows the 7.8 second 0-60 of the GLI treating you?

lol sorry but thats just pitiful
i wouldn't put too much confidence in those mag numbers you pulled...

this car is probably closer to 6.5-6.7 seconds to 60, and with a $500 chip, I can see sub 6 second runs to 60...

I actually retract the following statement:
No offense, but in stock form, there's no way...er, I guess I don't want to sound too belligerent, therefore, I'd love to see some facts behind those #s. I'm guessing this GLI is a 1.8T - I could understand with small mods...but stock - no way. I've owned a 1.8T Passat, and its #s were just ugly.
I didn't realize you were speaking of a new 06 model - with the 2.0T sporting 200hp. I can almost believe it (good atm conditions, perfect launch, etc)...Still like to see some #s...and some PICS. I love and hate VWs (I have a 1956 Oval with about 20 grand in it - but my wife's last car was a 99 Passat 1.8T. Great value - enormous features for the $, but after warranty expired, it became a manufacturer's dream...i.e., expensive stuff started breaking about 10k after warranty.

Anyway, to those with small kids or kids on the way, I actually bought the EVO because of my son. I have a 98 Talon TSi AWD - and it is a PITA putting the car seat in the back. I convenced my wife, if I sell the Talon (btw, still for sale), sell the GSXR-750, then I could get the EVO which, when driven by Jekyll and not Hyde, is basically like a 4 door Honda Accord (that has been had suspension work). Agreed its not the softest ride, but my son doesn't seem to complain.

Edit #2:
Oh, and THANKS. I know how biased and proud I am being a parent - my son is AWESOME...but it is always nice to hear it from others
I'll be sure to tell him he has some fans on Evolutionm.
And if anyone cares - this is how awesome my son is (about 65% finished - still got a lot to add to finish the song out):
Nathan IS Superman

Hey Diesel, good to see you are still around.
I sold my Evo about 7 months ago. I got married and and my wife and I bought a house. I got rid of the Evo and my wife's Scion Xa and bought a Vue Red Line for my wife and a Scion tC for myself. I love the Vue RL, lots of fun and great for trips, and it is a lot safer than the Xa, which was good when we lived in the city, but not good outside the city. But, the tC was not enough, and for 6 months my wife had to listen to me talk about missing my Evo.
About a month ago I sold the tC and bought my 04 STi, and the world is a lot better place now.
Hope you get the Evo X when it comes out.

not to hijack, but did you find these seats in the U.S.?? I am in the market for a child seat and I was looking at the Recaro Kids seats - but I was looking at the Japanese websites that had 'em. Please post if you have a link for a store or site in the U.S.
much appreciated.

Hi Diesel, good to hear from you... Man, you had one sweet EVO, I'm not sure I agree with you about the driveability though... I'm in my second EVO (you remember that awful debacle I had with Busted Solutions and my '03 EVO VIII..) Anyway, I'm driving the '05 MR as my daily driver and really have no complaints since it's basically stock. Sure, the low end torque is somewhat deficient, but it's not that bad.... Oh yeah, I do also alternate with my "beater" '92 Miata

Believe me, the EVO is definitely not underpowered or undertorqued, when compared with the Miata ... Still, they are both fun to drive. But you are doing just fine, you'll get to buy the EVO X when it's out and it will definitely rock! I just test drove an EVO IX MR, and I tell you, that puppy is fast! The MIVEC engine is definitely superior. I can only wait to see how good the EVO X will be. If increases the displacement of the engine, the car will be perfect! Imagine the EVO with 20% more torque off-boost

dude when we had our daughter I sold my Audi TT to get an Evo because of the family thing. Interesting progression of ones impression of the emotion towards the evolution...hehehehe, that's funny. My girl loves the car and makes the "whoosh" bov noise in slow shifts ;-)...

diesel glad to see you back on the boards, I sold my evo too and regret it completely. Now I am driving a 350z which I enjoy but I will also be first in line for the ten. the ix is great but I hate the front fascia ala Gialla. What happened to the s4?

Diesel is back! Man, you go through cars faster than anyone on this board . I remember when I first saw your car 2 years ago when I joined this forum...I made a "promise" after you sold your evo that another black evo with volks will make an appearance eventually...the time is coming...I think . If you have anymore high res pics of the evo with LE-28's, please PM me.
