There was enough sticky stuff left on the badge when I pulled it off.... I just pushed the sucker down on the plastic and it stuck just fine

Yeah, that's what I think too (about hooking up the iPod to the stock unit.

As far as removing the faceplate only, I don't think it's enough deterrent because as I explained before, the thieves will see the HU and break into the car because they know that lots of ppl leave the faceplate somewhere in the car...... When I put my decoy cover, it looks like the car has no radio....

All you need is some spray adhesive. This can be bought from Home Depot or lows. It will be in the pain department and is just what the name is, spray 3m adhesive. Super 77, or something similar should do the job! I use it to carpet amp racks and sub boxes, so it will definatly hold your emblems on..
