CF Question

Hey guys,

I realize that a carbon fiber hood or trunk will not make very much of a weight difference, and is primarily for show, but I still like the way they look.

I was wondering though, I read somewhere that in serious heat they sizzle and sort of melt a bit. Is this true? Because I live in a very sunny/hot climate and if so then I could never buy them.

Anyone know how to repair a "faded" looking carbon fiber hood or trunk? I bought a used C-west GT wing, full carbon, and it looks "faded" do I wax it? or re-clear it? any input? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your replies.

That is terrible to hear, as I also recently was reading about how the same happens to CF bodykits (like the beautiful APR widebody). Its a shame.

you oculd try waxing it, on my last car i picked up a used cf hood and it was faded a little bit, and i threw acouple of coats of wax on it and it did the trick, but if that doesnt work, yea you will have ot have it re cleared!!

I recleared my carbon fiber hood a little while ago...

big whitish cloud in the middle developed over time. My dad paints cars, so he knew all of the tricks to get it just right. I could ask him exactly what he did and let you guys know. I also have some pics if you like too.
