Scuff marks from AutoX cones

I have a lot of cone scuff marks I need taken off. They have been on the front bumper for close to a year and wax just ain’t doing the job. Any suggestions? No, it’s not my car I’m working, and yes I have scolded the owner for being stupid.

Some very high grit sand paper maybe? I used that once to take spray paint off my motorcycle. Then give it a good waxing.

Sometimes gasoline works. But use sparingly and at your own risk as it could damage the paint and its flammable.

I've had some success with clay bar removing the deposited rubber. Then Zaino to wax out the slight scratches.

3M has a special product that's used for taking scuff marks off of boat hulls. You can pick it up at just about any marine products store.

In response to post #2, if you sand with 2000 or 2500 grit paper, you WILL have to buff the spot or deal with dull paint. In response to post #3, NEVER use gasoline on paint for anything. I would recommend 3M's Perfect-it 3000 line of products, Extra-cut Compound #06060 will remove the marks, and if you need a little more polishing, I believe the part # for their swirl mark remover is 06063. I work at a body shop and know paint care very well. After the marks are gone, follow up with a coat of your favorite wax. Good luck to ya.

I was able to wax mine off. There is some Meguiare's Scratch X in a tube that worked for me. It is a wax with a minimal amount of compound in it.

Meguiar's SCRATCH X Fine Scratch & Swirl Remover (google it!)

You can use paint thinner.. but very sparingly. I had my car spray painted before, and paint thinner took it right off without damaging the cleart coat.

regular liquid wax works well, not even cleaner wax is neccesary.
