SSL subwoofer question
SSL subwoofer question
The search function didn't seem to help me at all. I'm trying to find out if the SSL subwoofer can be purchased online, through a dealer, or through a private party if anyone knows somebody selling one. Also I'm trying to find out what parts would be needed to mount it in my trunk. I have the ssl amp so I'm assuming I should be able to wire up the SSL sub easily. Thanks in advance for your help!
I don't think you can buy it online or through a dealer, your best bet would be from someone here. I have my whole SSL system laying at home, it sounds great for a stock stereo, but great is not enough for me so I replaced the whole thing.
Wiring is really easy to do, you can bypass the connectors on both sides and use standard wires.

I bought the SSL Sub from the dealer a while back. It was like $100.00. It's not a bad enclosure and I wanted to keep things stock looking in my 03 EVO. I also didn't want to lose my trunk due to subs. I never got to install it because I left for Germany and then Iraq. I'll be here for a while and my car is in SC till I get home.
The biggest problems I've seen are the 03 doesn't have one of the brackets in the trunk to mount the sub. It is a piece of sheet metal welded by the spare tire. Also, the sub only handles like 60 watts and I wasn't able to find a replacement speaker that fit due to the depth of the enclosure. I think Pioneer has a slim sub now, but being over here, it isn't a big priority to get it. I will when I get back to the states though.
If your serious about geting it have the dealer pull the CAPS pictures of the trunk area of an 04 or above EVO or Lancer. You should be able to find it on the pic. It has all the brackets and everything, you just neet the one piece of metal (if you have an 03) and the screws and drill a couple holes.
Hope this helps
