Yes , there is, from what i heard from my boss, the CF shortage won't be end until mid 2007 , the price of the CF is 3x more expansive than 2004 already.

Not much companies are will to pay that much to develop new stuff

The reason why is one of the French company need huge amount of CF to build more airplanes that is the main reason why. Wish i can answer your question.

 

I heard it was something along those lines too. Government bought up the CF supply for their use.

Who's this comment to? Who knows what the Government is using it for? And as far as not being stronger and lighter than steel... WTF? Made properly it is worlds superior than steel. The Ferrari Enzo's chassis is made entirely of CF. Jet planes also use CF chassis. I really don't see anyone here, besides you, that fits the "dumbass" description.

Well a lighter car uses less gas that's why they want it so bad.

Umm doesnt Coca cola cost more per ounze that gas? Yet we still buy and drink more of it than use gas in our cars. :P Carbon is cool...but seriously, cheapo wet carbon hoods/trunks/parts are just trashy....its better put to use in the military defending our country and protecting our troops. My brother in law came back from Irag a few months ago ( his 2nd tour of duty in Iraq) His hummer's convoy got ambushed and his vehicle got hit with a rocket. It blew up the hood (carbon composite) but they made it back okay, eventhough they were still engulfed in flames. Dang its crazy over there!
