Rear window on 03 Evo is gone. Need to replace.

Well I woke up on Sunday morning, only to find my entire rear window was shattered. The weird thing is that it was not by anything I could see. Some people have mentioned stress or a sudden temp change but I guess I will never know.

What is the best place to get a replacement piece? I was thinking of going to the local pull yard to maybe get a piece from a regular Lancer. Is this possible? Are they the exact same glass?

I know the dealer will probably give me some rip off price so I want to avoid them if possible. I know of a Safelite close by but I need to call them to get availability and a price. Here are some pictures of the aftermath. As a side note, I am past warranty by about 12K miles.

Maybe the dealer would replace it since there isn't any visible entries of anything?

wow thats odd. it looks like there is no point of impact from any of your pics. i would honestly try the dealer first since there looks like no attempt at theft or any other reason for this to happen.

Anyone know of a good source for the glass that won't rip me off? The dealer wants $663!

The glass with the rear wiper hole is very expensive and hard to get. We had a customers Evo in our shop and it took nearly a month to get that piece of glass in.
Will your insurance cover it?

I have to pay my deductible to cover the rear windshield. The state of FL only allows the front to be done without having to pay.

Tough brake with the shattered windshield. I hope you don't have any enemies as not many people know but its very very easy to shatter glass in a car, all you need is the littliest piece of porcelain with a sharp edge and throw it, glass will shatter but not brake.

Anyway, you can check:

http://www.89glass.com/
www.partsjobber.com

to see if they have anything for your car.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: it seems www.partsjobber.com has a windshield for your Evo for $169, back glass is $199. How much is the glass alone without labor at the dealership because where I live they charge like $70 bucks an hour flat fee which is ridiculous.

This just happened to me this morning, I guess it's a Florida thing, went from thunderstorms to bright and sunny in about 20 minutes, went out to leave and it looked just like yours.

I wouldn't mind eating the $800 for the Evo specific window, but waiting a month I just can not do. Hmph.
