already plan too, she is still in a baby seat not big enough for that one yet, so we will get there and will wrap it in matching fabric when we do get it. Thanks for the offer for test fitting

Just FYI, "submarining" would be incredibly bad as well. The lap bar could travel up under your rib cage and cause internal bleeding. Its best to strap yourself in properly and just hope that you don't roll. Otherwise, you're going to be potentially causing issues even if you don't roll.

I am not sure the legality of the harnesses here in IL. I have had them in for a while and been pulled over without any mention of them.

I am just crossing my fingers that I never actually have a need to use the harnesses. Yes, "submarining" is bad, but I decided it is better than the alternative. Getting your spine crushed because you body it stuck in an upright position doesn’t sit well with me.

no matter how you slice it, it's not good.

Submarining is never something you'd want to "count on" to save your life.

Harnesses belong in a car with at least a roll bar, if not a full cage, anything less, and you're at risk.

I'd say you're more prone to a rollover on the street than the track (hpde), because you're in control, where you can't control the suv that blew through the red light.

Also, if you're going to use the perminantly, you really need to yank the airbags, as it's not safe with both, you'll get a nice blast in the face. Removing those make the car illegal for street driving, so you get the idea. It's a federal fine to remove safety equip.

that all being said, drive safe and use a regular seat belt on the streets and leave the racing harnesses for exactly that, racing at the track. imho.

What do you think of 3-point harnesses? I'm thinking of getting a set for my DC5 since I don't want to install a harness bar as I use the back seat almost every day transporting the kids around.

for something like that, use the schroth rally4's.

They're a good setup, and a few clicks and they're outta the way for the kids.

Give the dude a break guys. Every time someone posts a thread with a harness bar and harnesses, someone has to come in and give them crap about rolling over and people in the backseat and blah blah blah. I drive a convertible and I'm pretty sure I'd be in way more danger with my stock belts and soft top than this guy would with hard roof and harnesses. If you want to lecture someone, go find the guy putting 20's on his ralliart.

well, if they didn't understand that before they got it, then they're uneducated.

Just because you don't feel the need to put a ROLL bar, not a harness bar, in your convertable, doesn't make his setup any safer.

And last i knew, 20's on anything wasn't going to crush your neck/spine in a roll-over.
