Let me put it this way, if someone is going for a crazy offset wheel, then more than likely they're not some time-attack hero, therefore loosing .0x G on the skidpad isn't going to matter much to them.
90% of the people who drive an Evo probably can't even max out the abilities of their car in stock form.
If your intentions are purely based on racing and performance, then great. But what's the point of cluttering this guys thread with this conversation because you think his wheels adversley affect some aspect of performance in which he'll probably never utilize to its fullest?
Why don't you go make your own thread titled "Crazy offset wheels are ghey." This is pointless.
Wow,... didn't know my thread would start a pissing contest. I will say that Robi was astonished and stoked that I had +22 offset gramlights. Although I will say that once the Advans wear out I am going to get 2 in a +30 offset for the rear. To the other poster with an RS that has a ****ty opinion of my wheels.... I autoX the car. So the wider track is helping, however like I posted above I am getting another set to run a staggered setup at autoX for better turn in so I can kick out the rear more and run wider tire.
I was weary about chop rolling the fenders but you can't even tell it happened. I thoroughly invtie any Evo owner who is local to take a ride in the car and see how much more grip, even with the stock tire, this has over stock. This is my second Evo, my '04 was basically stock with the exception of the rear bar and bushings, so it's not like I just got an RS cause it was cheaper, went out and bought some **** to be a fanboy.
Now if the two of you would stop *****ing at each other and spreading opinion based information in my thread it'd be nice. Hell... I thought this thing was dead.
Cal at SpeedElement and everyone else, thanks for the kind words.

Tarmac02, I'd like to sincerely apologize for painting a facet of this discussion in a less than positive light. I didn't intend to do so. FWIW, I think the wheels look very nice and I must say that you absolutely fantastic taste in automobiles <grin>. I don't think there are many of us (red) IX RS owners around.

I would like to add a stupid question directed at Tarmac02.
I understand that the different offset made you have to roll fenders, but was the way the suspension set up another reason??
I understand why you put the softer springs in front, but because you made that swap did it lower your car more??
I want to know only cause when i get my coilovers if i do it the same way as you I need to know if I will have to roll my fenders because of my rims 18 x 8.5.
BTW car looks great

Anybody know the actual count of Red RS IXs in the states right now??? The fact that you, Cal, and I all posted in the same thread totals the 3 I've seen on this site.
/\ LOL,... make that 4

I think the IX RS is the ultimate Evo - relatively light, nimble and very quick. I really like its lack of power options, the bare trunk, the lack of sound deadening and its aluminum roof, and most of all its raw, direct personality. I did make one concession to comfort and purchased a radio. I don't know how often I'll use it, as the sound of the engine and the differentials winding up is so intoxicating. To my ears, the aural sensation is almost Ferrari-esque once the motor starts to spin toward 6K. In 26 years of driving, I've yet to get behind the wheel of a car that I feel more connected to than the IX RS.
Is this correct? A +22 wheel in front (wider track) and a +30 wheel in the rear will reduce understeer, all other things being equal? I read some tuners were using a 9" front and 8.5" rear for that reason due to different tire contact patch created by different rim width.
BTW, the car looks GREAT!
