JDM/Euro Bumper Woes...
JDM/Euro Bumper Woes...
I have been thinking about going with the jdm/euro bumper, I love the look and i think it would look amazing on the white evo. My only issue is removing the rear crash bar... it just seems a little dangerous doing that or is it just me.
Basically i created this thread just to see what peoples takes are on the pros and cons of the bumper, i put my name on order for some shop on the forums here about it and he explained they should be in sometime by the end of this month. So whatever you guys think about it just let it all out here, because i am wondering if i should spend the 600+ dollars on the bumper or just stick with the stock one for safety reasons.

I'm in the same boat with you. as much as i want a jdm ix bumper, i don't want to lose my rear crash beam just for the look. i'm waiting for someone to hopefully develop a solution for this.

Yea, but have fun with the insurance company when you tell them that you took the rear crash bar off the car for a exterior modification after someone rear ends you.
bah!! i may custom fab my bumper support so it fits. it's been done b4, i've seen a non modified bumper support fit on a jdm IX rear but there is a slight bulge and looks kind of awkward.
You guys are crazy, I work in the same building is my insurance company, so my insurence lady and I are good friends not to mention she is a hottie that is into my car
anyway, I had looked into a JDM rear bumper and talked to her about it she told me yes you could do it and she thinks it looks so good too. Then she told me what we all already know, insurance companies are not in the business of giving away money
all you have to do is get rear ended, and say goodbye to your evo
her words "any modification to your cars safety system is not only a federal offence, NO insurance company will pay for any damages to your car in a accident situation, whether it was your fault or not." And like I said insurance companies are not stupid they will take apart your car after an accident to avoid paying you. An accident is just that a “accident” you don’t plan on them, I want my Evo to look good too, but my MR is a not a $40,000 risk I want to take. People are so quick to throw this bumper on their car, stop and think what you are risking! Your only as safe as the worst driver on the road

2: Keep said crash beam. Re-install prior to estimate/adjuster
3: Use a body shop that is licensed as an authorized bodyshop so the insurance company has minimum involvment.
4: shave your crash beam
