umm I thought the ARC sold in the US are "073 Wide" version, not the 079.

see: http://www.arcinter.co.jp/arc/usa/list.html

There are three ARC FMIC for the Evo VII/VIII/IX

073: "Standard" core ARC FMIC
073 Wide: "Standard" core ARC FMIC only wider to fill the front a little more
079: "Hi-Po" core ARC FMIC: The inlets to the tubes in the end tanks are tapered to help feed air in more efficiently, the dividing "bars" are thinner to get a higher tube density, and on the outside the "bars" are tapered to help airflow through the FMIC

JondemandSales (vendor's screen name on this site) IN THE US can get all three...they even have a special version of the 079 that is an ARC/Garage HRS version that they will have AVAILABLE IN THE US in about two weeks...PM them if you think I am talking out my a$$!!!!! Asia doesn't have a lock on everything!!! Neener, Neener, Neener

I'm not sure where this is going or what you're getting at. But yes there are such things as DHL and UPS and so forth. What I implied was that these are not 'commonly' available in the US and that's that. I'm pretty sure there are several ways of getting hold of one wherever you are in the world.

I've talked about the 079 for a while an nobody except for 1 or 2 people knew what I was talking about, including people who sell them. All pics I've seen posted and all threads to do with ARC intercoolers have always been about 073 wide. Most of the time nobody even knows there are 3 types from ARC so I felt it important to clarify. I don't know when/where I suggested that I did not believe you (I said I thought) so I'm not sure what's going on.

Anyway, only the inlet end has tapered. The outlet end isn't.

quite obviously, the 073 wide is the more expensive version of the 073. The one in the middle is the 079.

The HRS 079 is not listed, but last I checked it was something like 280,000JPY or somthing crazy. iirc, it's the same width as the 073 wide (see pic on the linked page) but with an 079 core. Basically Uber expensive but if you have a big turbo, it's probably the best ic you can get...

Too much coffee, staying up 'til three in the morning putting on an IC pipe kit, only to find out the pipe that hooks up to the turbo nozzle has a mis-machined flange that leaks...ever changed that little pipe that bolts to the turbo outlet nozzle...enough to make anyone crabby. I added the "Neener, Neener, Neener" to show that I don't really take myself or all this that seriously.

You are 100% correct that most people don't know there are 3 versions...I think that many buy it for the JDM factor and not the actual performance. I am ordering the 079 myself Monday ...then probably a couple of month wait.
