Did not know about the HRS version being a "wide" 079...I gues that explains the 250.00USD premium over the regular 079. Might be worth it since I want to go 50trim in the future...although the regular 079 would probably be more than enough FMIC

WhiteEvo05, no worries dude, it's all good fun!!

About the Garage HRS ic, I think it would be better if you check with your supplier. I read about it a while back, but we I remember it's a custom core of some sort. ARC do 100mm thick or 70mm thick also so it might even be a 100mm thick version with the tapered core in which case it would be a 109 rather than 079... which would be pretty aewsome. HRS has apparently no info on it anymore.... strange...

Can anyone confirm or deny the rumor that the Perrin FMIC is the same as the original version of the Neisi FMIC? I was really in the market for the Neisi core but since they are no longer available then my search continues. The real reason I ask is because the Neisi core seemed (according to Kevin and his testing) to be the best option in terms of pressure drop off and cooling efficiency also I really like their Piping kit which is still available I believe so I would use their pipe kit and the Perrin FMIC if they are the same and eveything would fit right without having to hack anything up to fit properly. If anyone knows or can confirm this I would love to know...

Thanks,

JOe

No the Perrin is not the same as the Nisei Street FMIC. Nisei custom designed their FMIC. It's not an off-the-shelf intercooler so no other company has their design. Here's a comparison they did a long time ago. At the end, it lists most the of the major FMIC vendors including Perrin.

Oh and if the Perrin FMIC fits with the stock piping, then the Nisei pipes should fit with the Perrin.

The Nisei and Perrin are very different. Take a look at Nisei's site and you'll see the tutorials where they show the difference between their core and others (like 7 makers).

Here are the dimensions of the Nisei versus Perrin.

Nisei Street = 25"L x 12 5/8"H x 3 1/2"T
Nisei Competition = 25"L x 12 5/8"H x 3 23/32"T

Perrin = 25"L x 11 7/8" x 3 1/2"T

Not only that but, both Nisei cores have 23 cooling tubes and Perrin has only 14.

Did you custom weld the side brackets on this intercooler or does it come like that from turboxs??

the brackets come w/the turboxs fmic, they get bolted on to the car, not welded.

However he installed the brackets incorrectly. But they seem to do the job fine
