read it, good info here, post #35 is a good one too...

4pts - no submarine belt - you can slide out from under it. Of course you are doing this for show but on a track (what harnesses are made for) that could be an issue.

If you flip (with harness bar and harness) and have dont have a hoop that supports the roof (AutoPower 4pt cage, etc)...you will be stick upright in your seat with nothing to keep your head from meeting your roof.

Again, if this harness is just for looks, your better off coloring your hair pink and driving around...
Pink hair??? That will definately get attention. No the Main Reason is I got to carshows and stuff just to See Other peoples Creations. ( I watch not enter) But A kid was looking at my car and Said to his freind that these cars would be much cooler with race harness to go with the Seats. I though the same thing, its like having a Vortex Generator w/o a wing.

Ok, you dont really get it. Neither will be better. No track racing, no autox, just driving = no 4pt cage = no harness. Seriously, your better of putting a bunch of vinyl on your car...or the pink hair...

I think you need to edit you signature. If X is IQ, then our IQ is X^2...so X^2 > X+1.

I haven't Investigated A rol cage yet so I haven't argued on in. I would imagine they won't be cheap and that they are pretty complicated to install. I could put one in Cause i got my whole shop to my disposal, but it a 2006 car. I drive like a Grandma, seriously. If you saw me driving you would be like what a waste of an Evo, but I respect that my car is weapon and i don't want to kill anyone or anything. If I was on a track I would have no problem going fast and turning hard, but I don't get a chance to goo to the track often. And I don't want to mess up my car, because it cost me $36000 . when i had my MR2 which only cost me 4000 plus mods I was at the track almost every week and I was running. Plus The Evo isn't a Drag car And I don't Like E-towns AutoX track.

What keeps me from Being a Ricer is i know That I have a STOCK Evo, and I don't go around looking to race it, I i was Going to Race the Car i would have bought an RS and Gutted it, Put in a Roll cage and A Competion Harness from Takata. I wouldn't Have spent the Ectra 8 grand on and Extra gear hids and A few peices of plastic.

I never said it was a drag car either. I guess the point of all this is if you just have the harnesses for car shows and dont plan on using them, that fine. Thats better than using the harnesses improperly and possibly maiming or killing you or your passengers.

And for the record an Autopower 4pt roll bar is 350 dollars.

^Yeah why not get an autopower 4 pt roll bar, at shows it'll get a lot of attention, especially if you paint it to match the exterior/color theme and you won't have to worry about getting paralyzed in the name of vanity.

So WTF would you want to put in harnesses to make it look "racey"?

Wow. If you think a car (or having harness in you car) makes you cool.............

Just stick to watching the F/F series.

I found some Pics of one, looks like My Rear seats will be unusable, but they will be with a Harness bar Too. It looks alot Better and more sturdier than a Harness bar, I might go with a Roll bar instead. But There is a Slim possibility that I might Have to use my backseats, Therefore the Harness bar can Just be removed Relatively Easily, compared to a Roll Bar. I think the Pink hair might work for me.

I am going to be upgrading to the Autopower 4pt once I can find a good deal on it. Much safer. But remember that you absolutely need a bar or cage to connect your harnesses to. Otherwise they are useless and will cause more damage than good.

Yep your car will be a two seater after the roll bar if that matters at all.

here are couple pics of my car

i have the schroth rally 4 eye... or something like that, dont remember

they are detachable so people can get into the back.. and ya can use the regular seat belts.

theres a how to on them. if ya wanna get a closer look..

i think this is the best thing for a daily driver..

i have the autopower roll bar sitting at home. just waiting for a rainy day to do the install.
if you drive very aggresivly or live in the mountains its not a good idea to wear them. im sure youre sick of hearing that. cause i know i am. but ya never know.. people dont wake up and say i feel like dieing in a car wreck today... it just happens...

good luck!

Harnesses are NEVER good on the street.

-without a sub belt the camlock will rise in an accident and can lacerate your organs
-stock evo seats cannot accept the sub belt
-when harnesses are tightened properly you cannot lift your shoulder to check blind spots
-most people wear the shoulder belts loosely to counteract the above point
-when u loosen the shoulder belts, you have just taken any safety improvement out of the harnesses and have made it less safe than the stock setup

Basically wear stock belts on the street. That is the safest option. That is why Mitsu and every other car manufacturer including Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo all have 3 point seat belts for stock vehicles.
