Here is one place.... But to date I have not been able to get Japan Parts to return my email. All I asked was for a shipping quote.

Has anyone seen these mud flaps? Do they attach to the car with the stock mounting points or do new holes need to be drilled?

-> See follow up post below

Re: Re: RalliArt Mud Flaps

Received a very professional email from Japan Parts last night about the mud flaps. A portion of the email is included below,

<MITSUBISHI Optional Part for Lancer Evo.8>
*Carbon-looked Mud Flap Set(#092-002-002): 35,400 JPY
Shipping to USA via EMS: 6,800 JPY
================================================== =
TOTAL: 42,200 JPY

You can check the approximate Currency Conversion at
http://www.xe.com/ucc/

<FITTING COMMENT>
This is basically for JDM Evo.8
According to MITSUBISHI, does not need to drille into the car.
Using the wheel inner bolts and some stays coming with the mudflaps
to installe.

<DELIVERY TERM>
The part is available in MITSUBISHI stock right now so it'll take
about 10-20 days (working day) to get to USA if you order now.

<TAX & DUTY>
Please remember you may subject tax,duty & terminal charge
when you receive your order but we do not know how much
it would be.

I tried posting on the Mach V forums under the same name that I use in here and never got a reply. That was a week ago. Today, I bought a set bunch of plain polyurethane 3mm thick that I will cut as needed to make fit the car. You guys will see how they turn out.

I asked Dan at Mach V again about the RalliArt mud flaps. They are going to be about $400 for them.

To my understanding, what makes them so damn expensive is they have some "bracketry" that makes them a little stronger. If you want a cheaper alternative, get some sheet polyurethane and cut it yourself, then maybe even add some Ralliart stickers or whatever. I know where you can get some Sparco mudflaps for about $15 a pair that are universal fit and they come in red, white, or blue. I am going this route and I will have some pics of how it turned out once I am done. I will also have cutting instructions as well as needed hardware to make them work (fender washers, screws, tools to use).

I think that for $30 for 4 mudflaps that look the same as the Ralliart ones versus the $400 for a set of 4 for the real thing, even if the Sparco ones wear out in half a year, they are still cheaper to replace by a long shot.

Now in stock.

We got them in. Cheap, they're not. Pretty good looking, though. The real-deal, air-freighted from Japan.

Do these flaps have any kind of quick disconnect system, i.e. so I don't look like a total hoosier when driving downtown as oppossed to on some gravel. They look great though. Thanks for the info Dan.

They have plastic rivets which come apart with a small flat blade screw driver. So technically yes.

Please forgive for this but, you would have to be high to pay $400 for mud flaps. Unless they were some tricked out polyurethane ones that were molded to the conturs of the car or something. That said I not saying anyone is trying to screw anyone, I firmly believe they are just that expensive but, I don't see why.

Pretty much all the Ralliart parts are a lot more expensive than "normal" parts. The MAF-to-turbo pipe kit ($200 or so from places like Buschur Racing) is something like $450 from Ralliart. Jackets that might cost you $50 are more like $150 with a Ralliart logo. A set of Ralliart brake pads is $250. Combine the already-high prices with import costs and duties, and you've got a pretty darned expensive retail price here in the US.

Nonetheless, we'll probably sell some of these. Different tastes and values are what makes the world go 'round...

They're meant to be permanently installed. So, sorry, you'll just have to keep them on during the trip to Wal Mart. Just keep your rally nav computer on the dash, and you'll look legit.
