You are correct, its not even close to 4" the end tank is about 3.5 and the core is 3.....damn ebay description got me again. Thanks for pointing that out...I'll edit the description on the first page.

Some closer look at the core and how the top is mounted using my own brackets....I have 2 other brackets located on the sides but is behind the bumper, I'll take more pix later.

Where you mount the top brakcets too? where the stock intercooler mounts? If so did you weld a peice to go from the bard running horizontal in this picture to a bar that would be able to get to the original mounting location?

There are two bolt holes on the FMIC, so all i did was run a bracket that ran across then drill a hole w/ another bracket kinda like an L shape bracket to mount where the stock bracket was. The side I did the same, use a L bracket wedge it against the clamps and drill a hole to be bolted on the frame. I could've use more brackets on the bottom but its pretty sturdy.

Maybe someone with a apexi FMIC can post their pix and do a comparison.

Sorry took forever to post these, blew a intercooler coupler so had to take off the bumper... the brackets are kind of ghetto but it works, just need t-bolts instead of those screw on clamps.

shouldn't there be a concern about your brackets eating away at the piping from vibration?

Good point man, I had it on since March and when I had the bumper off yesterday the piping was still good, maybe I'll put some rubber padding next time or get it welded.
